Admiring Job

The other night I could not go to sleep, things kept racing through my thoughts and when I finally couldn't take it anymore I had to flip open my Bible. My thumb ran across a folded piece of paper so I figured I could start reading there. What I started to read was the story of Job. I got through the first chapter and verse 21 really stood out to me: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."

This really hit me. No matter what I am still going through the Lord still deserves my praise. His will is good and perfect and I need to realize that even though this is still really hard, it is God's timing, definitely not mine. I don't understand it or enjoy/agree with it but I have to trust Him. After thinking that God is still to be praised this song by Casting Crowns immediately popped into my head: Praise You In This Storm. It is exactly what I needed. Right then and there I had to get up out of bed and buy the song. I needed to hear it. It is my theme song right now and could never get tired of hearing it on repeat.

Praise You In This Storm by Casting Crowns:

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
