Enough

The Lord's Prayer: "Give us today our daily bread."

TODAY - right now
OUR - not just one, a community
DAILY - everyday we must rely on Him

~Where your treasure is your heart is there also
~When we gain something we lose something else
~Something great is always there we just need to know what to eliminate
~When we lose something we then realize how much a gift it is

Enough
by Chris Tomlin & Louie Giglio

You are my supply my breath of life
Still more awesome than I know
You're my reward worth living for
Still more awesome than I know

All of you is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you
Is more than enough

You're my sacrifice of greatest price
Still more awesome than I know
You're my coming King, You are everything
Still more awesome than I know

All of you is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you
Is more than enough

More than all I want more than all I need
You are more than enough for me
More than all I want more than all I need
You are more than enough

Step Out in Faith

CRAZY LOVE
What in your life requires faith?
-normally something that scares you

*we tend to try to set our lives up so we don't need to have faith (play it safe)

Earth is temporary. Life is temporary.
Why as Christians do we want to stay here?

Heaven is our real home.

Our material possesions here don't matter, the relationships do.
-material possesions sin but can be silly

What do I keep to myself?
~plans --> my future

Matthew 25:
-Whatever you didn't do for the least of my brothers you didn't do for me

What are our priorities? we only have so much time.

After coming back to school from youth group I was talking to Alina and she gave me a new perspective on things. We were talking about Drew and what I had just heard and how we shouldn't want to stay here when Heaven is so beyond amazing. Then Alina said that as a Christian Earth should really be the only Hell we experience. I immediately went wow! In all reality how cool is that?!

Are you in Tune?

There are two parts to being in tune:
1) faith
2) and actions because of that faith

Staying properly connected to God is an every moment tune-up.

- You can be in tune to what you believe but be out of tune with your actions
- You can also be in tune with your actions but out of tune with your beliefs

What are your thoughts about this? Do you think people can be in tune in one aspect and out of tune in another?

Revival of the Basics

Pastor Bart Young

How can I get control of my life all the time?
~Joshua 22:5

*God never commands you to do something that is impossible or unreasonable.

TO LOVE THE LORD:
-Deuteronomy 6:5
+ in the n.t. they added "your mind"

<3
but your emotions are all over the place
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
God is the same yesterday, today and forever!
-------------------------

your soul = when you aren't trying
your strength = with all you have
your mind = your thoughts

you can't just pick one - you will be renewed when you use all

GRACE -> our motivation
when you just have salvation you are missing out on more that God has for you
~serving God is a way to get closer to Him

I have salvation & forgiveness of sins. Why do I need to do anything else?
-you don't have to but once we fully understand what God has done we should want to

1. Put God first
2. Take out the trash (change)
~Romans 12:2
3. Take some responsibility for your life
4. Have a plan
This week *Finish my devotional and start my new one*
If you have a plan, its ok for it to change, but at least you are going somewhere and doing something
5. Do something
~Proverbs 24:30-34

God will meet you where you are if we take that first step

God goes with Ice Cream

I had a great time at youth group tonight! I really do like it there, everyone is so welcoming and I like being able to remove myself from school and really focus on God. Before we got started with the message there was a relay race lol in giant underwear!

Here are my notes from the topic tonight:

Crazy Love
~ The world sees two types of people; the followers of Christ - those who live radically for Christ and the Christians - you are saved and will go to Heaven but you don't really have to change much
~ Is there such a thing as a Luke-warm Christian?
Luke-warm: going through the motions ("church") but no sacrifice

There is still always going to be sin but you always get back on the horse
We don't need to be perfect. That's been covered!
~ If Christianity was all about perfection then it wouldn't even be
Solutions for the Luke-warm Christian:
The answer is NOT try harder it is to fall madly in love with God!
"It all comes down to a heart issue." D.T. ;)

You should want to change and be noticeably different
To be a true follower of Christ it is a lifestyle *Like running up the down escalator*
Sometimes we have to go against the grain in order to see a difference

Nothing in this life will matter unless it's about loving God and others
-They will know we are Christians by our LOVE

On my way home everything just felt so peacefully great that the Dairy Queen I pass on my way home was totally calling to me so I just had to stop. They're having this special that has oreos and cookie dough all in one! So thats exactly what I had to get. And to make it better they don't scrape the top off, the guy gave it to me with inches of ice cream sticking out the top!

Yum!

More Reading

Chapter #3 -
~ You don't have to be in Church to see God
You can see him in the eyes of those who love him
*They will know we are Christians by our love*

Chapter #4 -
~ Rather than accumulating stuff for oneself, followers of Jesus abandon everything, trusting in God alone for providence.
Ah! Argh this is one of those things I know I have to do but don't know where the balance is
~When the poor meet the rich, riches will have no meaning. And when the rich meet the poor, we will see poverty no more.
Wow. Powerful.

Chapter #5 -
~ Preach the gospel always. And when necessary, use words.
~ We aren't all called to give up everything, we are called to respond. Now I've been somewhere stuck in the middle, I can't give up everything, so I need to find the balance.
~ What the world really needs is not more churches, but a Church.

The Irresistable Revolution

The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne

While in the Mall of America Audrey wanted to stop into Barnes & Noble to look for a book she had been wanting. While she was looking around I went in search of a good book, and I stumbled across this one.

After reading the first page I was hooked! So I figured that in order to get the most out of my reading I should take some notes. So I'll go chapter by chapter.

Chapter #1 -
~Who is Jesus? Is He just something we attend? or someone who is real and personal?
~"Jesus Wrecked My Life" wow the way he describes this can totally make sense to me. It is so much easier to live your life without being held accountable to anything, and once you know you are held to that knowledge.
~"I wanted to see passion." This is all I want to see out of a Church too! I truly long for that.

Chapter #2 -
~What are you willing to do for those God loves?
~Matthew 25:40 "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
~The Church is wherever two or more are gathered in His name.

I completely reccomend this book to everyone! And it goes so great with my devotional book. The true revolution is to no longer act the part but fully have it flowing through your every move.

Gone, But Not Alone

Today I went to Redeemer for Church. I helped lead worship with the Worleys and two other guys from that Church. I hadn't done it in a long time but I really do enjoy it. The pastor talked about baptism, but that isn't what exactly I focused on.

The pastor was talking about like status levels and he said "It doesn't work to run away." This got me thinking because the past few days I've been looking forward to going to college for just that, a clean start and I can just leave whatever is bothering me here in Spokane. Well it doesn't really work like that.

I can pack things into a bag to forget about but the bag full of memories and unsaid feelings will be left there to be dealt with. I can leave and go forward with life but its always going to be there. There is only one way to completely take care of things and that is by being straight forward. Right now I'm not sure I have the strength for that but I obviously forget that God's power is more than I can imagine. I'll be gone and feel like I'm alone but I won't be. God will be there. He is with me, and I am not alone.

This song was playing on the radio this morning on my way over to Redeemer. Its crazy how God works. Perfectly.

Not Afraid by Stephanie Smith:

I'm not afraid Not afraid not afraid
I’m not afraid not afraid not afraid

Sorry it’s over
I think it’s the best thing for now
I’m takin the memories
I don't want to leave them all behind
Some were good, some were bad, some were in between
But I gotta do what's right for me

And I'm not afraid
To walk away, let me go for the last time
I finally got it straight for the first time
Not afraid cause I know He’s there to meet me
So I'll be gone
I'll be gone, but not alone

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

I hate how it happened
But it just wasn't supposed to be
Lets not talk about it
Cause always looking back wont change a thing
Leave the good, leave the bad, and the in between
I’m gonna do what’s right for me

And I’m not afraid
To walk away let me go for the last time
I finally got it straight for the first time
Not afraid cause I know He’s there to meet me
So I'll be gone
I'll be gone, but not alone

It may not be easy
Cause at its best life is still hard
But He is with me
And I am not alone

Not afraid gotta go for the last time
I got it straight for the first time
I’ll be gone but not alone
To walk away let me go for the last time
Finally got it straight for the first time
Not afraid cause I know He’s there meet me
So I'll be gone
I'll be gone, but not alone

I'm not afraid
Don’t let me go for the last time
Finally got it straight for the first time
Not afraid cause I know He’s there meet me
So I'll be gone
I'll be gone, but not alone

I’ll be gone but not alone
I’ll be gone but not alone
I’ll be gone, be gone, be gone

Just One

Speaker: Ron Luce

When you fall in love with Jesus you fall out of love with the world.

1 Corinthians 13

"when the perfect appears the imperfect disappears"

JUST ONE...
just one act of love leads to so much more

love is sacrifice
one act of sacrificial love will change the world

~They will know we are Christians by our love

give your life away: GO! :there are still people living in that loveless world
I will go and be that first act of sacrificial love!

I will go against all odds!

Hearing God's Voice

Speaker: Margaret Feinberg

1 Kings 18

Hearing God's voice is a thin silence
-you are not alone
-be sensitive to the nudgings of God

sacred echos:
the repetitive word or phrase that follow you

I LOVE YOU
>God will go to every depth to tell you this

We live in such a high paced life
take time for God
slow down and realize when God is speaking to you

1. God hears the sound of your heart
- we act differently when our heart is acting purely
2. The love of God does not travel alone
wisdom-discretion-good council-prudence
love-faith-joy-peace-self-control

Why not pray for everything?

We all put up lines in our relationship with God. What are yours?

Leadership

Senior Chapel - Coach Chad Kimberly (Varsity Boys Basketball Coach)

We have presuppositions about what a leader looks like and in high school many of our classmates can embody one of the stereotypes.

LEADERSHIP:
  • Those who command attention (presidential)
  • Those who demand attention (coaches)
  • Those who get attention (spiritual)
Each of these leader types is know for strong views and a strong commitment to them. But these are commonly seen as the only types of leaders. A leader can come in many forms and the hardest and most admirable are the following.

Humility
Philippians 2:5-7
Lowering yourself to help others

Compassion
What breaks your heart?
Isaiah 1:17
Mark 1:40-42
Loving the unlovely

History/Baggage
God can use our brokenness
Psalm 51

*But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair*
"Pressing On" by Relient K

A special thank you to Mr. Hipple for his heart felt donation to Mocha Club after hearing Coach Chad speak today at chapel! It really means a lot to us, but even more so to the many children it will help.
