Game vs. Lind-Ritzville

We played Lind. - Ritzville today in tennis, and we totally dominated! It was a first game for us in over a week so my partner Jess and I were really excited. Our first set score was 6-2 followed by 6-0. Leaving our current season stats to be 7-1! It took us a couple of games to get back into the swing of things considering we haven't played doubles very often in practice.

Once we got it going things came back pretty quickly. Jess's volleys were great! She had a really sweet angle shot that whizzed by! My serves got better towards the end and my favorite volley to date was the last point of the first set. I totally slammed it down and it felt really good to get a bit of my frustration out.

Tomorrow will be another day full of tennis! Jess and I are playing in the Inland Empire Tournament out in Mead. We don't know what exactly to expect, because we are from a 2B school and there are several 4A school from around the area. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope to make it to the second day. We play Selah first, a small school from the Yakima area so we'll see what happens.

Leadership

Senior Chapel - Coach Chad Kimberly (Varsity Boys Basketball Coach)

We have presuppositions about what a leader looks like and in high school many of our classmates can embody one of the stereotypes.

LEADERSHIP:
  • Those who command attention (presidential)
  • Those who demand attention (coaches)
  • Those who get attention (spiritual)
Each of these leader types is know for strong views and a strong commitment to them. But these are commonly seen as the only types of leaders. A leader can come in many forms and the hardest and most admirable are the following.

Humility
Philippians 2:5-7
Lowering yourself to help others

Compassion
What breaks your heart?
Isaiah 1:17
Mark 1:40-42
Loving the unlovely

History/Baggage
God can use our brokenness
Psalm 51

*But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair*
"Pressing On" by Relient K

A special thank you to Mr. Hipple for his heart felt donation to Mocha Club after hearing Coach Chad speak today at chapel! It really means a lot to us, but even more so to the many children it will help.

The Stand

I really love this song by Hillsong!

You stood before Creation
Eternity in Your hand
You spoke the earth into motion
My soul now to stand

You stood before my failure
And carried the cross for my shame
My sin weighed upon Your shoulders
My soul now to stand

So what can I say
and what can I do
But offer this heart O God
Completely to You

So I'll walk upon salvation
Your Spirit alive in me
My life to declare Your promise
My soul now to stand

So what can I say
and what can I do
But offer this heart O God
Completely to You

So I'll stand with arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
I'll stand my soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours

Jr./Sr. Banquet

The banquet was a blast! The Juniors did an amazing job planning it! Before we even got to the boat we started with taking pictures at Ashley's house.

The Lovely Ladies.

The Handsome Gentlemen.

With our dates.

We then took off to CDA and found Mrs. Trom taking pictures with a red carpet to really make us feel like stars! It was really beautiful and very well thought out. We had dinner on a boat and was a cool experience. We had fried chicken for dinner and cheesecake for dessert.

After the food the Juniors had put together a hilarious slide show that gave everyone the preview of what each Senior would grow up to be. Then they each gave us these great plaques with our futures written on them and a really cool senior class picture in a silver frame that now sits on top of my book self. After that we had a bit more time to kill before our speaker for the night, so Casey, Matt, Stephen and I went to the top of the boat to take some more pictures.

Soon it seemed everyone followed us up there and it was a great picture taking frenzy!

Me & Stephen

We might be twins. lol.

Then Chris Rogne spoke to us about how to move on to our College lives still wanting and being with God. It was a really great topic and I think he did a great job. Too bad we didn't have more time because I would have loved for him to have spent more time on each bullet point. We then arrived back at the dock and we all headed to The Red Loin Hotel to the dance! Yes we do that at a Christian School (sometimes). We got lessons for West Coast Swing and Salsa. It was fun and funny to watch the boys try to pick it up. After the dancing started to die down a few of us headed over to Matt's and watched a movie. I didn't get home that night till about 3:30 in the am. It was super fun and I totally had a blast!!!

Jr./Sr. Retreat

Junior Senior Retreat is a time where the upperclassmen get a chance to bond and as seniors we are to pass down all our wonderous advice. Although the venue wasn't ideal we worked it out and had a blast! We went to Life Center and had two chapel sessions and we spent a lot of time playing games. Then we walked across the street to SFCC's REC center and chilled around the campus for an hour before we had access to their games and such. We had taco salad for dinner then stayed there till 8:30. Going back to school was super exciting :/ but there was a lot of candy and ice cream :). We had tons of fun and then went to bed around the midnight hour. The next morning we all wandered through the school halls in our pjs and had breakfast in Mrs. Hopson's room. After everything was clean we went home to get ready for the banquet.

Playing Ping Pong :).
